Supplier Quality Engineer

Verari Systems, Inc. is the premier developer of powerful, flexible, and scalable platform-independent blade computing systems that are defining a new era in high performance utility computing for the enterprise data center is seeking a full time Supplier Quality Engineer .
 

Position Purpose

This Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for communicating quality expectations to Verari’s supply base and working closely with supplier personnel to improve supplier quality. The individual in this role will build partnerships with key suppliers to improve quality and on-time delivery performance while managing cost. This position will interact with other internal departments including procurement, manufacturing engineering, and design engineering, as well as external supplier representatives to improve processes that impact supplied materials.
 

Scope and Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of an effective supplier communication process
• Participate in the establishment of supplier performance metrics and risk assessments
• Participate in the assessment and selection of suppliers of key commodities
• Participate in the development of partnerships with key suppliers
• Conduct supplier system and performance audits
• Assist in the development of quality plans for supplied materials
• Participate in continuation engineering activities as required
• Participate in the development of product requirements
• Assist suppliers with process improvement initiatives
 

Experience and Requirements

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and production equipment
• Ability to write technical documents
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to self-motivate and work with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated proficiency with computers and the Microsoft Office
• A working knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques

Preferred
• Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment or other high tech industry
• Knowledge of QSR’s, and ISO 9000
• Experience with FMEA, DOE, SPC, and related statistical tools
• Experience with PCB’s, electrical components, fabricated metal, plastics, and cabling
 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 3+ years of experience (or equivalent applicable experience)
