onboard the spacecraft orbiting Mars, is a time-consuming procedure.
Our BladeRack cluster has greatly accelerated this process. We use
a wide variety of custom processing techniques and each technique
is used in differing variations to draw specific conclusions about
the data gathered from these instruments. It is this constant state
of refinement that is helping to generate information with increased
accuracy and verify scientific analysis. When a new data processing
technique is discovered, it has to be tested on thousands of large-scale

from days to hours. Jobs that used to take over a month to process

we linked the code against MPICH and LAM (opensource MPI implementations).
The code would mysteriously crash at random times when running with
MPICH and would not even run using LAM. We contacted the maintainers

port MPI/Pro so our code would run reliably. This modification took
the Verari Systems’ engineers about a day. Using MPI/Pro we
can now schedule very long runs on the clusters without fear of
